How did John get the nickname "CAPTAIN AMERICA" ?

We dubbed him Captain America after this picture -- taken at THE GREAT STONEBORO FAIR -- was released on truckpulls.com. Johnboy drove into the fair LATE for the pulls and beat the pants off of EVERYONE there. Impressive show.

FEATURED PULLER INTERVIEW
JOHN ANDERSON

SP:

Tell us about your truck. What is it -- year/make/model? What modifications have you made?

JOHN:

1997 F-250, XLT, extend cab, 4x4, auto, Powerstroke Diesel Mods: Diablo Chip, Custom Dual Stage Propane Injection, Intercooler, 4" to 5" Dual Stacks, Brain's Truck Shop Auto Trans, many more to come this winter.....

SP:

How long have you been truck pulling (with your diesel)?

JOHN:

1 season

SP:

What have you broken during your pulling career?

JOHN:

4 U-joints, 1 Front Hub, Spider gears, Carrier Shaft

SP:

If money were no object, what would your ultimate pulling truck be?

JOHN:

I would keep the same truck. With money being no object, the possibilities would be endless. I'm thinking my boost gauge would have to be able to register more than 100 psi!

SP:

What is your best "official" pull?

JOHN:

I would have to say at Meadville Fair earlier this year. I pulled it out the gate that night. The first full pull I ever had. A milestone of sorts.

SP:

In your own opinion, what is your best pull?

JOHN:

I was pretty happy with the way my truck pulled in Mechanicstown this year. It hooked nice on the track and the power was there. The fire out the stacks at the end was a nice touch too. LOL

SP:

Have you ever beaten anybody that is worth mentioning?

JOHN:

Well, there was this one time I put about 30 feet on the big bad white dodge of Dave Mitchell's. I'm sure he would claim that it was because he broke his rear driveshaft at about 100 feet though. LOL

SP:

Who would you most like to beat?

JOHN:

I guess I don't have anyone in particular. I would just like to be able to hang with the good running Dodges.

SP:

What states do you plan on pulling in next season?

JOHN:

As many as I can possibly do. We traveled alot this year. Most of the pulls in Ohio were a 5-6 hour drive for us. That's plenty far. I hope to be able to pull at Muncie and Sheid's next year.

SP:

Do you have a favorite sled? How about a favorite event or location?

JOHN:

I guess I don't really have a favorite sled. I like the ones that drop the pan towards the end over the ones that make you drag the whole pan from the start though. I had a pretty good time at all the different pulls this year. I don't have an absolute favorite there either.

SP:

Besides the obvious [FORD], what keeps you from winning more pulls?
\JOHN: I'm thinking I need a little more tire for next year, along with a healthy dose of power. My truck doesn't have the power to pull in a high enough gear to get the sled moving like I think I need to. Hopefully I can do something about that this winter. I hope.
